The Roseland Peninsula is one of the quietest and most picturesque areas in Cornwall. The Roseland offers sandy beaches and cliff walks, wooded river creeks and unspoilt countryside together with pretty hamlets and villages.
The largest centre is St Mawes with its Tudor castle and access via foot ferry to Falmouth across the harbour and St Anthony Head across the river. Popular with swimmers, sailors and walkers, its sheltered harbour and safe beaches are ever popular but uncommercialised.
Other villages of note on the Roseland Peninsula are Portscatho - a small fishing village with beautiful views across Veryan Bay to Nare Head; St Just-in-Roseland with its creekside Church set in tropical gardens; Veryan with its famous thatched roundhouses; Portloe - a quaint fishing village clinging to the cliffside; and Tregony with its distinctive Clocktower and interesting history.
Trenona Farm is situated between Tregony and Veryan near the entrance to the peninsula and therefore has good access to it but also to the rest of the county, most of which is less than an hours' drive away.
Within a thirty mile radius there are many visitor attractions for you to see: The Eden Project; the Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre and Charlestown Shipwreck Centre near St. Austell; the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the World of Model Railways at Mevagissey; Goonhilly Earth Satellite Station near Helston and Presingoll Barns at St. Agnes; Flambards Village Theme Park and RNAS Culdrose at Helston; the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth and the various beautiful gardens near Truro and Falmouth, Lanhydrock House and Gardens near Bodmin and Trerice near Newquay.
For the young people there are various amusements on duller days - Truro Bowl; Ben's Playworld at St. Austell; Dairyland Farm World, Newquay Waterworld and Newquay Zoo, the Holywell Bay Fun Park, The Fun Factory and Blue Reef Aquarium near Newquay; Ships and Castles Leisure Pool at Falmouth. St Mawes and Pendennis Castle should also not be missed.
These are just a selection of places to see and things to do nearby - and don't forget the coastal path and sandy beaches within just a couple of miles.
